Jalene G. Simpson Welsh of Boerne, TX passed away on December 20, 2008 at the age of 85. She was born on November 5, 1923 in Marshalltown, IA, where she lived until 1957, at which time she and her family moved to CA. While in IA and CA, she was active in 4-H, Brownies, Girl Scouts, Rebekah”s, and Eastern Star. She was employed at Rockwell International in accounting until her retirement in 1980. At this point, she moved to Boerne where she joined the First United Methodist Church and began what she often called “the happiest time of (her) life”. Jalene was actively involved in Family Services, the Rainbow Senior Center, Kendall County Homemaker”s, First Friends at FUMC, and volunteering as a driver for those in need of medical treatment. She traveled extensively with her mother, her daughters, her husband, and the First Ladies of Frost Bank. She had many dear friends who will remember her as a loving, caring, and giving person.Jalene was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Buchwald and Adele Butt Buchwald, her brother, James Buchwald, and her ex-husband, Harold Simpson. She is survived by: her husband, Dan Welsh, daughter Jo Ann Calk and husband Eugene, daughter Susan Ovist and husband Stephen, daughter Ronna Hammel and husband Michael, stepdaughter Gloria Sherrill and husband Jim, and stepdaughter Glenda Welsh. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Jimmy Irwin, Donald Scott, Jeff Hammel, Melissa Martin, Jennifer Fair, Jon Hammel, Heather Smurr, Allyson Hamlin, their spouses, and 16 great-grandchildren.
