Jalene Dalling Evans was born in Trenton, Michigan on September 24, 1947, to Aggie (Weigel) and Vearl Dalling. She moved with her family back to Idaho Falls as a child. She went to Holy Rosary Catholic School, O.E. Bell Jr. High and graduated from Idaho Falls High in 1965. During high school, she worked in the kitchen of Sacred Heart Hospital.
In the summer of 1965, she met Roger Evans, her best friend and love of her life on a double date at Scotty’s Drive In. They were engaged in November of 1965 and married in December of 1966 while he was on leave from the Navy. They moved to Norfolk, Virginia, where they lived for three years. While in Virginia they became parents to three children and met lifelong friends.
