Jacques A. DesMarteau, 94, of Lafayette, passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2021, at The Springs in Lafayette. He was born September 27, 1927, in Montreal, Canada, to Marc and Jeanne (Monet) DesMarteau. Jacques graduated from St. Patrick High School in Kankakee, IL and Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa.
He was a veteran of the Army serving from 1946 to1947 and 1951 to 1953. On August 20, 1955, he married Maxine Mayotte in Bradley, IL and she survives. Jacques was an accountant with CTS Micro Electronics for 28 years and retired in 1985. He was an active member of St. Mary Cathedral and always the gentleman, Jacques enjoyed bridge, golf, sports and horse racing.
Surviving along with his wife are his children Claudette (Michael) Perry of Lafayette, Suzanne (Kent) Berner of Newnan, GA, Jackie (Kevin) Rose of Atlanta, GA, Nanette (Joseph) McCollouch of Woodstock, GA, Jay (Lisa) DesMarteau of Westport, CT, 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister Denise Rilott of Rockford, IL. Jacques was preceded in death by siblings Pierre, John, Andre and Marie.
