Jacquelyn Mae Bacon of Hebron, NE the daughter of Walter and Rose (Herbert) Calvin was born July 27, 1933 in Sweetwater, NE. She departed this life at her home in Hebron with her family by her side January 27, 2023.

 

Jackie grew up on a farm near Ravenna, NE attending country school and graduating from Ravenna High School. She furthered her education by attending the University of Nebraska and received a bachelor’s degree in education. She taught Home Economics in Ravenna.

 

She married Robert Bacon February 1, 1958, in a small church in Ravenna, NE. This union was blessed with the birth of three children.

 

The couple resided in Oakland, NE for a short time before moving to Hebron in 1968. She worked for Hebron Public Schools as a substitute teacher, para-professional in the speech department for many years and drove several bus routes. She touched the lives of many children that attended Hebron Public Schools. After retirement, Jackie volunteered at Things and Stuff, Blue Valley Community Action, and projects for the hospital foundation. She also spent many weekends and devoted countless years to the Hebron County Club serving on the board and as a “volunteer” scorekeeper. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, DW, and P.E.O.

 

 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Rose Calvin.

 

She is survived by her husband Bob of Hebron, NE, sons; David Bacon and wife Kara of LaVista, NE, and Richard Bacon and wife Marsha of Cook, NE, one daughter Kim Cottam and husband Kent of Hebron, one sister Nadine Cook and husband Larry of Peoria, AZ, grandchildren; Matthew Bacon of Omaha, NE, Mark and wife Ellie Bacon of Omaha, Samuel Bacon of Omaha, Jordan Cottam of Hebron, Jay Cottam and wife Bailey of Kearney, NE, Jena Cottam of Hebron, Harrison Bacon of Cook, NE and Jamison Bacon of Cook, NE, one great-grandson Brooks Cottam, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
