Jacqueline Eileen Smith (Coleman), 76, of Boerne, Texas, passed peacefully in the evening of Wednesday, March 25, 2020.

Eileen was born on February 16, 1944 in San Antonio, Texas to Joseph Earl and Lucille Mary (Reymann) Coleman. Eileen was a very kind and sweet lady who loved and cherished her family and friends. Even those she randomly would come into contact with would receive an “I love you” from Eileen. She loved crocheting, playing cards, baking, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends.

Eileen met the love of her life at the age of 16 during Easter Sunrise Service in 1960. Two months later, on June 15, 1960, she and Paul Allen Smith were married. Paul was her soulmate and they enjoyed a lifetime of love until his sudden passing on March 14, 2013. The only time they were apart was while he served a tour during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1969 but being the devoted wife that she was, she daily sent him letters and tape-recorded messages. To this day she kept and cherished the letters received by her Paul. After his return they worked on building a family and eventually had their only child, Paul Allen Smith, Jr., whom they proudly showered with love and support for their entire lives.

Eileen is survived by her child, Paul Allen Smith, Jr. and his fiancé, Cynthia Sue Brenke; her grandchildren, Colby Smith and Kennedy Smith; her step-grandchildren, Emily Glynn, Emma James and Morgan James; her sister, Glenda Earline DeVilbiss; many nieces, nephews, family and friends; and last but not least, her dog, “Princess” that she loved and cared for like a child.

Eileen was preceded in death by her lifelong love and husband, Paul Allen Smith, and her parents.

The family would like to thank the staff at Cibolo Creek Nursing Home and Compassus Hospice for their exceptional loving care.
