SWEITZER, Jack W. Of Portage. Passed away Thursday March 22, 2012. He had recently turned 80, and in February celebrated 50 years of marriage to his wife, Josephine. Jack grew up at Gull Lake and graduated from Gull Lake High School.
He volunteered for the Korean War and served in the Air Force for 4 years. He worked in boat yards and owned one himself until moving in 1968. He returned 5 years later to live in the Kalamazoo area and was an entrepreneur and truck driver until retirement.
He was preceded in death 2 years ago by his daughter, Limra. He is survived by his wife, Josephine; children, John and Jack; grandchildren, Shaeghla, Mike, Jr., and Ava Mae; brother, Richard; and sister, Judy. He was truly liked by everyone who knew him and the hole he leaves behind in the lives of his family cannot be measured.
