Troy – Jack S. Tashjian, Sr. entered into his eternal worship and praise of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 17th, 2017.  He died peacefully in his sleep at the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center Courtyard in Troy, NY.  He was the 5th of seven children of the late Musroob and Satanig Patanian Tashjian.  He was the dearly beloved husband of the late Marion W. Tashjian whom he married on May 18, 1996.

Born in Troy, NY on June 24, 1920, he lived there and in Latham, NY.  After graduating from Troy High School (1939), he served during World War II with the US Army Air Force as a cadet, receiving training both as a pilot and gunner at several bases as well as at Syracuse University.  After his honorable discharge as a sergeant in January 1946, he studied in New Haven, CT at the Progressive School of Photography.

Mr. Tashjian was employed for 13 years at Albany Camera Shop as sales manager while at the same time he was proprietor of the Capital District Camera Repair Shop.  From 1961 until 1970 he was an authorized dealer for Snap-On Tools, Inc.  After 14 years of service in the transportation department of the North Colonie Central School District he retired in 1990.

Mr. Tashjian served as an Elder and as a Deacon at the United Armenian Calvary Congregational Church of Troy, of which his grandfather was a founder.  He also belonged to the Seniors Club of St. Peter Armenian Church in Watervliet.

Jack’s survivors include his brother M. John Tashjian of Castleton-on-Hudson, children Lee S. (Donna) of Alto, MI, Jack S., Jr. (April)  of Green Cove Springs, FL, James G. Tashjian (Vernon Browe) of Clearwater, FL, Mark S. Tashjian, Sr. (Eleni) of Burnt Hills, NY,  and Holly B. Tashjian Steciuk of Troy, stepchildren Susan Barnes Seim  of Melrose, NY and William M. Barnes (Patrice) of Sudbury, MA, and many grandchildren, step grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his siblings Mary, Elizabeth, George, Joseph, and Anna Mae, and his late wife Ruth Crosby Tashjian.
