Jack R. Skinner, age 75, of Fairmount, IN, died Friday, March 7, 2014, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.

He was the son of the late Charles Skinner and the late Oda Jean (Caudill) Shane, born July 14, 1938 at Marion, Indiana. He was a graduate of Fairmount High School class of 1956.Jack retired as an inspector from Delco-Remy Anderson, IN where he worked for 35 years. Prior to his years at Delco-Remy he worked for the Town of Fairmount as a meter reader; he was passionate about his interior and exterior painting skills and was in high demand throughout the community because of his painting skills. He was a man of great character and was kind, loving, gentle and very charitable.

He enjoyed old guns, hunting, and fishing in Minnesota and the Great Lakes with his son and grandchildren. He enjoyed going hunting at German Ridge, Perry County, Indiana in southern Indiana with his brother Bud and son Cal. He liked to travel with his grandchildren once spending a month traveling the western states; He was an outdoors person but in the winter enjoyed putting together puzzles. He enjoyed woodworking, spending time with his grandchildren and going to their sporting events. He was an avid American Indian History buff and watching western movies as a result of his American Indian heritage. He taught himself to play the harmonica and to play spoons.

He is also survived by his wife of 56 years, Jayne (Beck) Skinner; they were married June 30, 1957. One Daughter: Debbie (Scott) Dalton, Cocoa Beach, FL Two Sons: Cal (Lois) Skinner, Fairmount, IN Shayne Skinner, And Fairmount, IN Two Sisters: Sandy Engle, Fairmount, IN Sheila (John) Voight, Lexington, KY Daughter-in-law; Shelly Skinner; 12 grandchildren; Nicole (Michael) Johnson, Batesville, IN Carly Skinner, Fairmount, Marijayne, Brittney, Monica, Jennifer Skinner, Summitville, Zachary Ray, San Francisco, Alexander Ray, Cape Canaveral, FL Kylie Ray, Elwood, IN Jessica Ray, Indianapolis, Jonathan Dalton, West Lafayette, Catherine (Derrik) McKay, Jonesboro, IN4 Great Grandchildren; Jasper and Oliver Johnson, Adalyn King and Blair Skinner.

He was preceded in death by son; Anthony “Tony”, brother Charles R. “Bud” Skinner, sister-in-law; Joyce Skinner, brother, Tim Shane, Father and Mother-in-law Flynn and Charline Beck, brother-in-law Larry Engle, nephew, Eric Voight.

When Jack was a child his father was killed in a plane crash and so he is also preceded in death by his father Jim Shane.
