Jack R. “Mr. 61” Harding, 78, of 935 Pine St., Galesburg, died May 8, 2007 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.

Jack was born on June 18, 1928 in Havre, Montana, the son of John C. and Ethel V. Albright Harding. He married Fern Pagel on March 14, 1948 in Havre.

Surviving Jack are his wife Fern of Galesburg; 1 son, Russell (Marty) Harding of Spokane, WA; 3 daughters, Sandra (Gary) Bennett of Havre, MT, Rachelle Harding of Galesburg, and Renee (Tony) Ericson of Goshen, IN; 1sister, Donna (Ralph) Hanson of Billings, MT; 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Preceding Jack in death were 1 daughter, Barbara Salley on November 25, 2003; 2 brothers; 2 sisters; 1 grandson; and 1 granddaughter. Jack was a supervisor for the Burlington Railroad for over 30 years, retiring in 1983. After his retirement he was the Bunker Links golf course repairman. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, where he served as an elder. Golfing was his life long passion. He played on the Dew Dusters League and the green busters at Bunker Links. When he was 68 he tied the course record at Bunker Links shooting at 61. Jack and his wife Fern, Square Danced for several years at the Grand Squares. He was an avid Cubs, Bears, and Bulls fan.
