Jack Palumbo, 93, of Milford, beloved husband of Loretta Palumbo, entered into eternal rest on December 2, 2022. Born on April 14, 1929 in New Haven, he was the son of the late Anthony and Josephine Palumbo and lived on Judson Avenue in New Haven.
Jack graduated from Commercial High School. He was called to active duty during the Korean War.
He married Loretta Masella on September 4, 1954 and immediately became a part of the huge Masella Family who were also from Judson Avenue in New Haven.
He was a construction foreman for the New Haven Railroad in the Bridge and Building Department and worked there for over 25 years. He continued to work at the New Haven Parking Authority and was an active member of the SEIU Local 32 BJ. His most personally endeared employment was at Subway World Headquarters in Milford, CT. He loved being a part of the Subway community and was loved and adored. Everyone enjoyed working with him. A Department Head at Subway said, “ Jack was a joy to be around”. He always had a smile and kind word to offer.
He loved to travel to Florida and the Caribbean with his family, and especially looked forward to Subway Convention travel to Hawaii, Las Vegas, and California.
He adored his grandsons, Paul, Jr. and Chris and was so proud of them and the four greatgrandchildren he was blessed to have. Nicholas Jack, Roman, Chloe, and Charlotte all loved Grandpa Jack.
Jack loved the shores of Long Island Sound and he taught us all to love it going back to the wonderful days spent as a family at the Double Beach Club in Branford.
Jack always had a smile on his face even when it was hard for him to smile. His smile brought us individual comfort during these hardest of days we were blessed with his presence. His smile was like the sun. He loved everybody. To know Jack is to love Jack. He was not only a part of the greatest generation…he was a great man who was deeply loved and will be forever cherished in our hearts, until we meet again.
Along with his wife, Jack leaves behind his children, Joanne (Paul) Landino and John (Lisa) Palumbo; grandchildren, Paul (Kristen) Landino Jr. and Christopher (Hilary) Landino; great grandchildren, Nicholas Jack, Roman, Chloe, and Charlotte Landino; and extended family and friends.
