Jack L. Smith, 82, Anderson, passed away December 4, 2009 at his residence unexpectedly. He was born October 17, 1927 in Anderson, Indiana, and resided in Anderson. Jack was a graduate of A.H.S. and a member of Elks B.P.O.E. Horseshoe Pitching Club and U.A.W. #662. He also attended Colonial United Methodist Church and South Meridian Church of God.

His hobbies include horseshoe pitching, collecting John Deere antique tractors, fishing, collecting antique cars and he loved all of his animals. He lived his entire life in Anderson and retired from General Motors Delco Remy after 49 1/2 years of service. After retiring he acquired a CDL license, which he still held, and fulfilled his dream of driving a semi tractor trailer.

He served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict as a Corporal in the National Guard where he earned the MP Occupational yellow ribbon and three battle stars. He is survived by his daughters; Donna Davis Bart and Debbie Chapman Jeff both of Anderson. Sister; Donna Greene. Sister-in-law; Mary Esther Carter. Brother-in-law; James Petry. Two grandchildren; Jenna Dee Chapman and Layna Jae Chapman.

Several nieces , nephews and special pets; Sandy, Zappa, Boots and Zero. He was preceded in death by his spouse of 54 years who died on September 24, 2004; Hannah Belle Petry Smith. Parents; Ida and Joseph Smith. Siblings; Catherine, Helen, LaMoine “Gus”, Wally and Ernest.
