Jack (John) Jeremiah Kanaly, 86, of 19135 E. Prentice Circle, Centennial, Colorado, 80015, died July 20, 2010 of complications after a fall. Jack was born May 16, 1924 in Wessington, South Dakota, to John and May (nee Andrews) Kanaly. He was the youngest of four children and the only boy. Jack graduated from Wessington High School on May 15, 1941. He attended college for a year and then enlisted in the Navy in 1945. He wanted to be a gunner, but because of his college credits they put him to work in the hospital as a medic. He was honorably discharged. He went to the University of Wyoming in Laramie and graduated in 1949 with a degree in Biology. He worked with the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission part time and was finally hired on full time in 1950 as only the third biologist to work in the Fisheries Department. As Area Fisheries Management, Jack traveled throughout the state for many years and came to know a lot of people. He is spoken of as a é€great supervisor.颀 He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was very caring and giving. For several years Jack had a large gun collection, numerous specimens of pelts and traps. Jack married Maisie Ann Dixon on May 8th, 1948 and they had six children together. Their only son, Kirk Michael, died an infant in 1957. Jack and Maisie raised their five daughters in Laramie. They were avidly involved in 4-H and raised many different animals and gardens on their property in West Laramie. After working hard for many years, Jack and Maisie retired in 1978 and set out traveling. They spent a lot of time in Mazatlan, Mexico; Lake Mead, Nevada; Yuma, Arizona; Buchanan Dam, Texas; and Centennial, Colorado. Jack is preceded in death by his sisters, parents, son and a grandson, Brandon Ball. Jack is survived by his wife, Maisie Kanaly of Centennial, Colorado; his daughters Jackie O颀™Hare of Centennial, Colorado; Jeri Johns of Neptune Beach, Florida; Kim Ball of Buchanan Dam, Texas; Kelli Spackman of Red Lion, Pennsylvania; and Kristie Mead of Collinsville, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
