Jack Felts

December 23, 1933 – October 17, 2019

Espy E. (Jack) Felts of Sheridan, Arkansas, was born December 23, 1933 in Lonoke AR, the son of Katherine (Pool) and Espy Felts.

Jack passed peacefully at his home on October 17, 2019.

He was drafted into the US Navy in 1955 and served until 1957. His sea assignment was aboard the USS Hornet CV12.

During his life he worked as a tractor driver on rice farms, telegraph deliverer for Western Union, various positions with Riceland Foods, service station attendant/mechanic, Pipefitter (Hoover Dam/Nevada) and assembly line worker for Ford Motor Company.

In 1972, he started his own Sheetrock Business (Jack Felts Sheetrock Service) in Memphis Tennessee. He moved his family to Sheridan in 1979, continued his sheetrock business and then started a second job with the Arkansas Department of Corrections in 1980. He continued both jobs until his retirement from the ADC in 1998 and then retiring from his sheetrock business in 2007.

He loved his place and his horses, riding until his health failed. He kept active by taking care of the horses and yard. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were also a source of pride. He was a kid at heart!

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 53 years, Mildred (Poe) Felts of Sheridan; sons, Pete Felts (Debbie) of Stuttgart and Dwyatt (Terri) Felts of Sheridan; daughters, Jody (Caroll) Guffey and Roxie (aka Tasha) Brule of Sheridan and many extended grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends.
