Jack E. Boehm Sr., 86, of Peru and Okeechobee, FL, passed away Friday, July 8, 2016 at Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Boehm was born February 17, 1930 in LaSalle to William K. and Verna (Whennen) Boehm. He married Barbara Eble on February 6, 1954 in LaSalle.

Mr. Boehm was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in LaSalle, American Legion, 56-year member of St. Johns Masonic Lodge, Mohammed Shriners and Northern Illinois Shrine Club, 53-year member of Eastern Star and charter member of Oglesby Elks. He was a past member of the City of Peru Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals.

Mr. Boehm was the owner and operator of Illinois Valley Cartage and Boehm Bros., Inc. for 53 years. He was a member of Operating Engineers Union 649 and Teamsters Local 722. He enjoyed fishing, auctions, flying his own airplane and watching and attending auto racing. He loved his million dollar dog, Lucy.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; three children, Patricia (Harold) Maulfair of Peru, Jack Boehm Jr. of Lake Bluff and Richard (Kay) Boehm of Peru; six grandchildren, Brian and Kelli Fenwick, Bridget and Brittany Boehm and Margaret and Erin Boehm; two great-grandchildren, Faith and Brison Fenwick; one sister, Charlotte Olson of Cedar Point; two brothers, Jerome (Barbara) Boehm of Jensen Beach, FL and Edward Boehm of Plainfield and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Shirley Fieser and four brothers, William Jr., Raymond, Thomas and Gene Boehm.

Pallbearers will be Jack Jr. and Richard Boehm, Brian and Kelli Fenwick and Bridget and Brittany Boehm.
