Mrs. Iva Ruth Durham-Hendrix, of Beech Grove, passed away on the early morning of Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at Beech Grove Meadows. She was 91. Iva was born March 12, 1928 in Westmoreland, Tennessee, a daughter of the late James Albert and Ninnie Hope (Bentle) Howell.
Iva attended schools in Tennessee and was a graduate of the Westmoreland High School there. She worked as a self-employed hairdresser for many years and in her leisure time she enjoyed crocheting as well as gardening and took pride in raising several varieties of house plants.
Iva is survived by her daughter, Phyllis (Bill) Lord; her grandchildren, Mike (Tammy) Eaton, Billi Lord, Brandon Durham and Leslie (Brad) Ritter; five great-grandchildren; her stepsons, Donald Hendrix and David Hendrix as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Iva was preceded in passing by her first husband, H. Paul Durham; her second husband, Chester Hendrix and her son, Timothy Paul Durham.
