Isaias G. Oliveira, 77, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at his home in Kearny, NJ.
Mr. Oliveira was born in Poutena Anadia, Portugal, and immigrated to the United States in 1970. He lived in Newark before moving to Kearny in 1972.
He served in the Portuguese Military.
Isaias was a construction laborer for Bar-San Contractors, Inc in Carlstadt, NJ for many years before his retirement in 2002. He was a member of Heavy and General Construction Laborers Local 472, Newark, NJ.
His dad and grandfather were shoemakers in Portugal and Isaias learned the art while growing up.
Mr. Oliveira is survived by his wife, Maria Altina (nee Braga) Oliveira, three children, Irene Teixeira, Jorge Oliveira, and his wife, Kimberly and Mariana Martins and her husband, Nelson, two sisters, Elisete Oliveira Vendas and her husband, Nelson and Dilva Oliveira Vieira. He was the grandfather of Sara Teixeira Jones and her husband, Daniel, Mario Teixeira, Catarina Teixeira Slocum, and her husband, James, Ava, Ian, and Cruz Oliveira and Isabella and Daniel Martins. Isaias was the great-grandfather of Aiden Jones and Alexandria and Penelope Slocum. Isaias was also the beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Mario Teixeira.
