TORRINGTON –Irving L. Surdam, Jr., 76, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 23, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Joyce (Deane) Surdam for 58 years. Born January 10, 1945 in Hartford; the son of the late Irving, Sr., and Leona (Hackett) Surdam. Irving worked for the Town of Winchester for 32 years before retirement as a talented Carpenter and Mason. He enjoyed fishing, long rides and was an avid Yankees fan. He loved spending time with his family especially when all his children were together joking and laughing. He also loved visiting with friends. He is already deeply missed. In addition to his wife, he leaves his beloved children, Lisa Pretak and husband Mark of New Hartford, Irving L. Surdam, III of FL, Benjamin Surdam and fiancé Julie of Winsted, Cindy Noel and husband Derek of Torrington and Dawn Colgan and husband Dennis of New Hartford; grandchildren, Megan, Stephanie, Ali, Corey, Kristen, Derek, Jr., Samantha, Jessica, Courtney, Brandon and Daron; 15 great grandchildren; adored sister, Kathleen “Kathy” Michaud and husband Michael of Harwinton; and two nieces, Chrissy and Michelle.
