Irvin Bell Holley, 91, of 1489 Maple Road, Callands, VA died suddenly Saturday, March 19, 2011. Born August 14, 1919 in Callands, VA, he had a long, full life on his beloved tobacco farm in Callands. Mr. Holley was a member of County Line Christian Church and a former Deacon. In addition, he was a former Election Official for more than 40 years in the Callands District and represented the Callands District on the Pittsylvania County Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Board. He was also a veteran, having served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. He served from 1942 to 1945 and earned the American Theatre Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the W.W. II Victory Medal. Mr. Holley was the son of the late James Edward Holley and the late Sallie Slayton Holley. He was married on June 5, 1945 to Maude Wright Holley, of the residence. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Jean H. Stone of Callands, Nancy H. Taylor of Danville and Mary Gail Walton and husband Eddie of Rockville, VA; five grandchildren, Jennifer S. Fennell, Jarrett T. Stone, Meredith T. Moore, Natalie T. Sigmon and Connor M. Walton; and six great-grandchildren, Tyler C. Fennell, Cailyn M. Fennell, Cole T. Fennell, Breann V. Sigmon, Ian M. Sigmon, and Matthew T. Stone. Mr. Holley is also survived by two special friends, Greta Lipford and Virginia Baker. Mr. Holley is predeceased by a daughter, Janice Marie Holley, three brothers, Carroll O. Holley, James E. Holley, Jr. and Alton S. Holley, one sister, Virginia H. Aaron and one son-in-law, Mac Taylor.
