Irene Marie Trujillo

1928 – 2018

Irene Marie Trujillo, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, was welcomed into Heaven on April 23, 2018 at the age of 89. Her devoted family and Catholic faith gave her peace when her health declined.

She was born on Sept. 29, 1928 in Sarcillo, Colorado, to Sam and Emily Montoya. Irene had five brothers and five sisters. She graduated from Primero High School and attended Trinidad Junior College. She met her loving husband, Max Trujillo, in 1947 and they married a year later. In 1949, they had their first of five children and moved to Colorado Springs.

“She was a great mother and a good cook,” said Max, her husband of 69 years, who rarely left her side. In her final months, Irene was constantly surrounded by the large, loving family she nurtured. We will miss her kind soul, passion for Christ and community and the way she lit up with joy in the presence of her great grandchildren.

She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Parish for 20 years and St.

She is survived by her husband Max and their five children: David Trujillo and his wife, Patricia, of Spring, Texas; and Rudy Trujillo and his wife, JoAnne; Diana Sanchez and her husband, Christopher; Roxanne Stiles and her husband, Robert; and Candace Ohlsen and her husband, Timothy, all residing in Colorado Springs. She has 11 surviving grandchildren: Michael, Max, Gina, Erin, Emilio, Mark, Isaac, Samantha, Mallory, Andrea and Roxanna. And 14 great grandchildren: Reyna, Alaina, Grayson, Stella, Taylor, Anthony, Hannah, Izaiah, Samuel, Lyla, Leo, Trinity, Max Jr. and Valentine. She is survived by her sister Elva Lucero, brother George Montoya and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The whole family would like to thank Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care, 2550 Tenderfoot Hill Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80906, for taking care of our loved one.

“Goodnight Irene, I’ll see you in my dreams.”
