Irene M. Mollenkamp, age 89, of Algona, Iowa died on February 6, 2013 at the Algona Good Samaritan Care Center where she was a resident for 3 years. Irene Esther Marso was born on April 4, 1923 in Fort Pierce, Florida, the daughter of James and Regina (Ludwig) Marso. Irene graduated from Omaha High School in 1941 and then attended College in Omaha. Irene and her mother moved to San Francisco to join her sister Delores. On November 4, 1961, Irene was united in marriage with Herbert Mollenkamp in Reno, Nevada. She worked for Standard Oil of California for nearly 40 years. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping and golf. Irene was a member of various Veterans Auxiliary and golf organizations in California. Irene and Herb moved back to Algona in 2005, where she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wesley and St. Benedict CDofA. Irene is survived by nephews and nieces, Donald, Thomas and Mary Lou Renaghan of California; and many cousins in Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband Herb in August 2008; parents; and sister, Delores and her husband Gene Renaghan.
