Firmender, Irene Misencik Firmender, age 99, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late Lawrence A. Firmender, passed away peacefully on Monday August 29, 2016 at Brandywine Senior Living Center in Litchfield. She was born on November 26, 1916 in Shelton and was the daughter of the late John and Margaret Rondyos Misencik. She was a resident of Stratford, CT for most of her long life and was raised on a dairy farm in Huntington, CT. She was a retired registered nurse, graduate of Bridgeport Hospital class of ’37. She had a wonderful life filled with family, work, and community. She was a very active and passionate member of the Holy Name of Jesus Ladies Guild and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. All who survive her will miss her dearly, but the family traditions she instilled will live on with us forever. She is survived by her three children, Judith Hines of Easton, James Firmender and his wife Sandra of Lititz, PA, Laurene Wallace and her husband John of Colebrook, CT., eleven grandchildren, Kathleen Williamson, William Hines, Patrick Hines , Michele Andronowitz, Janet Firmender, Anne Firmender, Matthew Firmender, Ashli Flury, Erin McMahon, JJ Wallace, Marisa Wallace, twenty one great grandchildren, Megin Hewes, Nicole Williamson, Sean Hines, Kaitlin Hines, Molly Hines, Matthew Hines, Kevin Hines , Madeline Hines, Joseph Andronowitz, Daniel Andronowitz, Ryan Flury, Andrew Flury, Will Flury, Emily McMahon , Ava McMahon, Matthew Firmender, Rory Firmender, Julia Cividanes and Elwood Wallace, two great-great grandchildren, Jason Hewes and Padyn Hewes, one sister, Margaret Lemanski and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her beloved husband Lawrence, Irene was predeceased by one son, Michael Firmender, one brother, Albert Misencik, one sister, Helen Tuzik and one son-in-law, Joseph Hines, MD.
