Irene was born on February 14, 1920 to Andrew and Alma (Swanson) Hanson on the family farm near Osceola, NE. She graduated from Osceola High School in 1937. On March 5, 1939, Irene was united in marriage to Lloyd Adelson at Calvary Lutheran Church Swede Home, Stromsburg, NE. After they retired from farming in 1973, Irene and Lloyd moved to Lincoln, NE. Irene then worked at Montgomery Wards for several years.
