Agnes Ione McCauley passed away March 31, 2014 in the Arizona Pioneers Home in Prescott, Arizona.

Ione was born November 11, 1911 in Flagstaff, Arizona to William Hugh and Margaret Helen Wallace Anderson. She married Shelby McCauley, March 30, 1932. They raised 3 children.

Ione joined the Order of Eastern Star when she was 18 years of age and was a member all of her life. She joined the International Association of Rebekah Assemblies in 1936 and ultimately served as the International President of that organization during 1964-65. Not only was she active in her lodge, she was also involved with the Women’s Club; the Pilot Club and the Historical Society. She volunteered in causes such as the Mothers March of Dimes, Mental Health, Cancer and Heart funds.

She was a Den Mother, led the Campfire Girls and was the Director of Arizona girls Ranch. Her whole life has been one of service and due to this trait, she was chosen as the Arizona Daily Sun’s Citizen of the year in 1963.

Ione is survived by a son, Shelby Glenn (Ellin) of Seattle and a daughter  Phyllis Ione (Leonard Fisher) of Page, 6 grandchildren, 8 great grand children,  14 great great grandchildren,  two sisters in law, Marjorie Anderson and Jeanne Mertz, and many nieces and nephews. Her husband Shelby ; son Hugh and six brothers  predeceased her.
