Inge Therese Elisabeth Schmidt, 83, of Gulf Breeze, died Thursday, February 25, 2016, after a 6-year battle with renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer) and lung cancer. Inge passed in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 23, 1933, in Essen, Germany, the daughter of Theodore Gelissen and Johanna Loebbert. On August 7, 1954, she was united in marriage to Walter Schmidt in Essen, Germany. In 1958 Walter and Inge moved to Long Island, New York. Inge completed her formal hair dressing school in Essen, Germany and continued her trade in New York. Shortly after arriving in the states, Inge put down her scissors to travel with her husband.
