Imogene Maude (Carrier) Coe, the daughter of Claude and Mae (Murdoch) Carrier, was born February 16, 1900 in Newton, Iowa. She was a graduate of Newton High School in 1919.
Imogene was untied in marriage to Kenneth G. Coe on August 16, 1956 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Imogene was the owner/operator of Quality Cleaners in Newton for 15 years, retiring in 1962. She was an active lady being a charter member of Women of the Moose; College of Regents; Academy of Friends; Pocahontas Lodge; charter member of TOPS Club; O&E Club; and the Jasper County Senior Citizens.
Imogene was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth in 1983; her daughter Betty VanGenderen; her step-grandson, Christopher Fuller; her three brothers, John, Eldon, and Bruce Carrier; and her sister, Irene Robson. Those left to honor her memory are her step-daughter, Nancy Fuller and husband, Fred, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; her granddaughter, Julie McPherren of Grinnell, Iowa; her step-granddaughter, Kathy Fillr of Fairbanks, Alaska; her great-grandson, Daniel M. McPherren, Jr. of Grinnell, Iowa; her three step-great-grandchildren, Jenny and Matthew Fuller of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Bobby Filler of Fairbanks, Alaska; and many nieces and nephews.
