BOES, Ileane L. Of Kalamazoo, MI Ileane went to be with her Lord Friday afternoon, May 1, 2009. She was born March 9, 1923 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of the late John and Katie VanOverloop DeBoer. A 1941 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School and Parson’s Business School, Ileane was employed by Dr. Betz as his medical secretary for 23 years, until her retirement. On October 3, 1944, she was untied in marriage to Dale Boes. She was past president of Kalamazoo County Medical Assistants, former board member of both the American Cancer Society and Human Resources Board of Portage.

Ileane was an avid tennis player. She also was a member of the Advisory Board and volunteer coordinator for 25 years for the USTA National Junior Tennis League. Ileane also enjoyed both foreign and domestic traveling. Ileane grew up as a member of Bethany Reformed Church and was current and charter member of Greenwood Reformed Church, where she also taught Sunday school. But most of all, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Surviving are her son, John Lorna Boes of Portage, 3 grandchildren, Erin, Katie, and Bryan Boes; great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Boes; sister, Jane Howard Kalleward of Portage; sister-in-law, Fern Liedtke of Negaunee, MI; brother-in-law, Ray Milne of New York; daughter-in-law, Deborah Boes; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband of 59 years, Dale Boes; her parents; and 1 sister, Jeannine Milne.
