DATELINE CAPITOL HEIGHTS MD

On June 23, 2005, following a brief illness, Mrs. Idell McCoy Davis went to be with the Lord. This transition was made at her residence.

Mrs. Davis, 87, affectionately known as “Nonnie”, was born May 29, 1918 in Columbus County, North Carolina. For most of her life she was a resident of High Point and Trinity, North Carolina. While in Trinity she was an active member of St. Mary United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher, choir member, and a communion steward. In 2004, she relocated to Capitol Heights, where she became active in St. Paul’s Senior Living Ministry, and she continued to impact many lives. She had many gifts and passions, among them, crocheting, gardening, cooking and Bible study. All of these gifts she shared with others.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Davis, and a daughter, Betty Gibson.

Surviving relatives include two daughters, Peggy Dixon of Cary, N.C., and Cathy Brasfield of Riverdale, Md.; two sons, Leon Davis (Emma) of Randleman, N.C., and Donald Davis (Geneva) of Trinity, N.C.; 19 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Esdale Venable and Althea McCoy, both of Jamaica, N.Y.; one brother, Derious McCoy of Ypsilanti, Mich.; a very special niece, Jean Spencer of High Point, N.C.; a host of other relatives and friends.
