Ida M. Gray McGowan, 60

Troy Ida M. Gray McGowan, 60,of Madison Avenue, died Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy after a long illness.

Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Irvin Gray and Rita (Brandish) Gray.

She had resided in Troy for the past 47 years and was a graduate of Troy High School and Hudson Valley Community College.

Ms. McGowan worked for Marine Midland Bank, now HSBC Bank for 26 years in various positions, retiring in 2001.

She was a volunteer at Literacy Volunteers and helped with various Clothe-A-Child benefits. An active communicant of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Troy, since age 18, she was on the Vestry, Altar Guild, a Sunday school teacher for 12 years, choir mother, member of the Women of St. Paul’s and treasurer for 7 years.

She is survived by a son, Ross K. McGowan (Dawn) of Troy; a brother, Irwin F. Gray (Rita) of Syracuse; two sisters, Rita A. Gray and Florence M. Moules both of Troy; two marvelous grandchildren, Nicholas James and Raegan Elizabeth McGowan and several nieces and nephews.
