DYER, HUBERT ALLEN
Hubert Allen Dyer, 93, of New Smyrna Beach, FL, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021. He was born in 1928 in Sumner County, TN and graduated from Gallatin High. Hubert served in the U.S. Army in post-WWII Germany and was honorably discharged. He worked many years as a letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office-Madison branch. He won championships as a Madison Little League baseball coach and loved the Atlanta Braves and Tennessee Vols.
He and wife Frances retired in New Smyrna Beach in 1991 and were active in the local community for three decades. Though he suffered from rheumatoid arthritis his entire adult life, he volunteered at the library, food pantry, Little Theater, biked around NSB well past age 90 and made things tough for the local fish population. Hubert was preceded in death by parents Carl and Sally Dyer, brothers William, Carl, Roy and Robert Dyer, wife Emma Jean Overton Dyer and daughter Terry Lee Ashburn Bouchillon (Joe) . Survived by devoted wife Frances Joann Reed Dyer, sister Barbara Jean Woodard, children Amy Dyer (Lamont), Connie Gail Teague (Steve), David Ashburn (Barbara) and Mark Dyer (Tammy); grandchildren Eric (Kelsi) and Chris Ashburn (Kelly), John and Allison Dyer (A.J.) and Sharnai Thompson, Payne and Taylor Bouchillon; honorary grandchildren Curtis Creekmur (Sheri) and Jeremy Swaggerty; great grandchildren Barrett, David, Andrew, Addison, Briggs, Radford and Jones Ashburn. Known lovingly as “Grandpa Hubie” by all.
