Hubert Eason, 91, of Ringgold, died Sunday, June 1, 2003 in a local hospital. Mr. Eason served his country during World War II as a U. S. Marine. Injured during the retaking of Saipan, he was awarded the Silver Star for bravery above and beyond. Mr. Eason worked at Peerless Woolen Mills before and after the war and was a member of their baseball team. When Peerless closed, he went into the nursery business and continued this work until he retired. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Augustus Eason and Naomi Jane Martin Eason. Survivors include his wife of 64 ½ years, Mary Sue Spears Eason; one son, John David Eason, Pikeville, Tenn.; one daughter, Mary Elizabeth White, Hixson, Tenn., two granddaughters, Lisa S. Bales, Sara K. White, Hixson, Tenn.; one grandson, Matthew David Eason, Ringgold, Ga.; two great-grandsons, Dakota and Brandon Bales, Hixson, Tenn.; two sisters, Mabel Cash, Bowling Green, Kentucky and Rubye Tanner, Tampa, Fla., and numerous nieces and nephews.
