Howard Roy Fredrickson passed peacefully from this life on December 29, 2021. Howard was born in Sparta, Wisconsin on December 31, 1929 to Ray and Bertha Fredrickson. His childhood was filled with the warmth of a big family, his older brothers Merton, Lester, and Warren and sister Marion. As a husband, father and grandfather, Howard was the bedrock of his family, holding himself with a quiet dignity and strength. He radiated a deep warmth that touched everyone around him.

Howard brought dedication and integrity to his professional life as well. After graduating in 1952 from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in Mining Engineering, Howard and Vilyn headed off to Chewelah, Washington in their new Nash. It was the start of a stellar career. With hard work and diligence, Howard went from a roustabout on an oilrig in the Gulf of Mexico to Vice President of Gas Acquisition for KN Energy. He was widely respected and admired throughout the Colorado Oil and Gas industry. Colleagues fondly remember his deep knowledge and patient mentoring. Retiring in 1999, he continued to consult for the industry until well into his 80s.

May we all be so lucky as to have lived with such character, to have shone so brightly, and to have been loved so deeply.

Howard is survived by his wife Vilyn Fredrickson, his sons Peter (Karen) Fredrickson and Joel (Susie) Fredrickson, his daughter Valea (Bill) Fredrickson-Coyne, his seven grandchildren (Nathan, Michelle, Andrew, Matthew, Amy, Bryce, Jocelynn), and two great grandchildren (Jade and Jasper).
