Mr. Matthews passed away on Monday, June 24, 2019 at McLaren Bay Region. Age 82 years. The son on the late Gerald and Gertrude (Treiber) Matthews was born June 26, 1936 in Bay City, Michigan. Mr. Matthews was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and was retired from Dow Chemical after more than 30 years of service. He enjoyed bowling, playing blooper ball and was an avid Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions fan, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mr. Matthews is survived by his wife of 62 years the former, Wilda M. Brookhouse; three children, Sherry (Larry) Dengler, Gerald Matthews and Gregory (Charlene) Matthews; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Brian) King, Kyle (Katie) Dengler and Craig (Amy) Dengler; two great grandchildren, Mason King and Gemma Dengler; two sisters, Marge Smith and Lorraine (Bud) Budill; one brother-in-law; two sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Mr. Matthews was also preceded in death by one son, Kevin “Bucket” Matthews; great grandson, Hunter King; five brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law.
