Howard J. Kohlhaas, age 69 of Luverne, passed away Friday, October 18, 2013 at his home. Howard John Kohlhaas was born on April 7, 1944 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Raymond and Amanda (Thul) Kohlhaas. Howard was raised in St. Joe, Iowa. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He graduated from Garrigan in 1962. On August 20, 1976 Howard was united in marriage to Jodi (Jensen). They resided on a farm outside of LuVerne where they raised their two children, Ryan and Abby. They were later divorced. Howard enjoyed spending his time helping his brother-in-law with his race tracks and helping different farmers in the field. Howard passed away on Friday, October 18, 2013 at his home in LuVerne. He is survived by his son Ryan of Algona, Iowa, his daughter Abby of Milford, Iowa, Brothers Marvin (Sandy) of West Bend, Iowa, and Allan (Shelly) of Livermore, Iowa as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Howard is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Doris Dodds and Marian Ringsdorf, brother-in-law Dean Dodds and his niece Nicole Berte.
