Homer G. Keltner, 86, of Jacksonville, IL died August 9, 2015, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.

He was born June 29, 1929 in Virginia, IL, the youngest child of Harrison and Maude Belford Keltner. He married Bonnie Lee Smith on April 25, 1959 in Jacksonville and she preceded him in death on January 25, 2005.

He is survived by a son, Greg Keltner (wife, Joan) of Belleville; three granddaughters, Blair and Riley Keltner of Belleville and Hillary Keltner of Colorado Springs, CO; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Darlene Henson of Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by his parents and ten siblings.

A graduate of Virginia High School, Homer was raised in the Virginia area where he was known as “Peanuts”. He served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was a self employed licensed barber for 55 years. He retired following many years as the owner and operator of Keltner’s Barber Shop in downtown Jacksonville, where he held court concerning many issues facing the community, his beloved St. Louis Cardinals, and the current status of his golfing skills.

Homer’s greatest passion was singing, especially with his friends in the Ferris Wheelers Barbershop Chorus. For many years, he was a proud member of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America (SPEBQSA). He was a long time member of the First Baptist Church and more recently had attended Central Christian Church.
