Homan “Carlis” Taylor, 87, of Anderson, passed away on February 17, 2020 at home.
He was born on June 21, 1932 in Clay County, Tennessee and resided most of his life in Anderson. Carlis graduated from Livingston Academy in 1951 and he proudly served his country in the National Guard. He retired from General Motors after 21 years. He was a member of Lapel Masonic Lodge #625, where he had served as the Past Master, and the Edgewood Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, shooting archery, hunting, fishing, going to the Lodge, and loved coaching little league. Carlis ran 5 miles a day until he was 80, then slowed down and started walking the neighborhood. He loved being outside and watching the squirrels.
Carlis is survived by his loving spouse whom he married July 21, 1951, Beatrice Taylor, son, Darrell Taylor; granddaughters, Jennifer (Brian) Berryman, and Carrie (Heath) Burton; great-grandchildren, Hayley, Jesse and Jacob Berryman, Morgan and Kailin Burton, great-great-grandchildren Grayson Cannell, Junior Patterson, and Rheya Berryman; sisters, Nellie (Frank) Garrett, Gay (Doyle) Moles, and, Teina (Frankie) Thrasher, and his daughter-in-law Stephanie.
He was preceded in death by son, Ronald E. Taylor; parents Dollie and Homan Taylor; siblings, Irvin Taylor, Dollie “Ruth” Taylor, Christine Matthews and Marie Bilbro.
