Hollis Lynn BowmanJune 11, 1944 ~ February 20, 2010Dr. Hollis Lynn Bowman, 65, of Hazel Green passed away Saturday February 20th at a local hospital after a brief illness of complications related to . Bowman was a PhD chemist specializing in forensics and research chemistry. He was a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana State University, Hammond, Louisiana; attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and received his PhD in chemistry from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, was preceded in death by his father, Hollis Ford Bowman and his mother, Ernestine Burns Bowman. He will rest in peace next to his parents in Greenlawn Cemetery in Hammond, Louisiana. He was a member of the Flint River Baptist Church in Hazel Green. At the time of his death he was actively involved with the research and chemistry departments at Alabama A & M University. He enjoyed assisting students with their research projects.Survivors include his daughter, Elizabeth Jane Bowman of Orlando, Florida; his sister and brother-in-law, Janie and Jimmy Davis of Hazel Green; his nephew, Ritchie Lee Murphy and wife Lisa of Pratteville; his cousin, Jana Dickerson and husband Jimmy of Tickfaw, Louisiana; and many friends and co-workers left to console our hearts and help us cherish his
