Hollin Jack Carter, 86, Anderson, died September 21, 2009 at Community Hospital, Anderson after an extended illness. He was born June 2, 1923 in Burkesville, Kentucky, and resided in Anderson since 1953. Hollin retired from Container Corporation. He served his country in the United States Navy in World War II.
He was a member of the American Legion and loved to garden. He is survived by his wife of 62 years; Hattie Irene Carter. Five children; Judy Marvin Smith, Jackson, Raymond Jack Carter, Harold Wayne Diana Carter, Vicki Fred Carter-Stanford and Barbara husband, Perry Hawkins. Siblings; Sellie Carter, Stanley Carter and Grace Piercy. Eight grandchildren; Tim Carter, Carinda Dawson, Nathan Carter, Benjamin Carter, Jacob Carter, Carla Hagmier, Andy Stephens and Jessica Hawkins. Great grandchildren; Kayden, Kayla, Jordan, Chasity, Kaitlyn, Cheyenne, Brook, Boyce, Teagen, Kora, Paris, Javen and two on the way.
Several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Nikki Carter Reese. Parents; Gertie Bean and Otis Jack Carter. Siblings; Minnie Lee, Rollin Carter, Millard Carter and Preston Carter.
