Mr. Hermie D. Turner (Hermie D) was born to the late Mrs. Lorean Turner Leaper and David Leaper on February 22, 1938, in Myrtle, Mississippi. Mr. Turner met and later married Bobby Clara Ball on July 20, 1957, and they were blessed with two children; son, Kelvin A. Turner and daughter, Michelle D. Turner.
Mr. Turner attended Pine Bluff Middle School and received his G.E.D. from Union County Training School in 1956. Shortly after completing his formal education, on April 24, 1957, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served for nearly four years before receiving an Honorable Discharge on April 12, 1961 as an Airman Second Class. This was the beginning of a 20 + year career of serving his country.
After a brief sabbatical, Mr. Turner re-enlisted in the United States Army on July 11, 1961, where he completed two tours of duty in Vietnam as well as served in France and Germany. Mr. Turner
