Herman Roegge, 84, of Arenzville, IL, died Feb. 1, 2021, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born Apr. 14, 1936, in Beardstown, the son of Elmer and Lula Hansmeier Roegge. He married Sandra Lynn Toland and she preceded him in death on Feb. 20, 2019.

He is survived by two daughters, Michelle (Robert) Wasielewski of Skokie, and Kimberly (Andrew) Martin of Birmingham, MI; seven grandchildren, Robert, Jr. (Kelsey) Wasielewski, William Wasielewski, Emily Wasielewski, James Wasielewski, Joseph Martin, Jackie Martin, and James Martin; one brother, Melvin (Rosalee) Roegge; sisters-in-law, Patricia Brockschmidt and Mary (Harold) Tyson; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Mr. Roegge a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville. He spent his career serving as a conductor with BNSF Railway. He was devoted to his country as a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and was a member of the Arenzville American Legion. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Triopia Trojans and the Fighting Illini, and loved to watch baseball and basketball. He also loved gardening, traveling, and having conversations with anyone. He especially loved his family.
