It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of their precious, loving father
Herman Melvin Sellers.  He was born April 30, 1936, in Eutaw Alabama, and passed away Tuesday, November 15th, 2022, at home surrounded by his family. He fought a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Melvin, as he was known to many is now reunited in death with his dear wife Ann Lindsey Sellers with whom he shared 63 years of marriage.  He is also preceded in death by his parents Herman and Geneva Sellers, his brother Mike Sellers of Eutaw, AL., sister Frances Lorene (Sue) Sanford, brother-in-law Chester Sanford, brother-in-law Joe Richard Lindsey, sister in law Linda Fondren, Brother and Sister in law Mac & Donna Lindsey; Brother in law Harry Carver of Enterprise, AL.

He is survived by his children Melvin Lindsey “Lin” Sellers (Valerie), Lisa Ann Sellers-Dunn (Bryan); two grandchildren Melvin Cole Sellers and Marianna Lindsey Sellers; sister Ann Mize (John), Betty Storey(Alvis), brother Morgan(Buster) Sellers(Jane), sister in law Polly Carver.

Melvin had a very strong work ethic and a compassion for those in need.
In 1958 he went to work with Cockrell and Company as an operator, he loved running heavy equipment, and that passion led him to start his own business in Northport.  He established Melvin Sellers Excavating in 1967 and he continued to be involved until 2011 when his health began declining.  Throughout his career as an excavator, he did many jobs in the Tuscaloosa and Northport area. Melvin would love to take on very challenging excavation jobs and if he cleared off your homestead, property or did the excavation for a business his customers always knew he was a man that you could depend on to get the job done and done right.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, being outdoors on the family farm, deer hunting and fishing.
