Herman E. Buschenfeldt, a resident of Stoughton for seventy-nine years, passed away on Friday September 8, 2006, following a short illness, at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He was eighty-four years old. He was the beloved husband of Lois E. (Arpin) Buschenfeldt for 62 years.
Born June 7, 1922 in New York City, he was a son of the late Karl W. and Gertrude (Sieswerda) Buschenfeldt.
He attended Stoughton Public Schools, Wentworth Institute and Northeastern University where he studied to become a Certified Orthotist. He continued his education in the field of Orthoties and after graduating from college was able to work in his families business Karl W. Buschenfeldt & Son, and served as Company President, until he retired in 1998.
Mr. Buschenfeldt was also the Past President of New England Orthotists and Prosthetists and a Past Director of the American Orthotists & Prosthetists Association (AOPA) and also a proud member of the American Academy Of Orthotists and Prosthetics (AAOOP).
Mr. Buschenfeldt was a Veteran of the United States Navy and served his country in WWII, where he was a Gunnery Mate 2nd Class. He saw military action in the European Theater, Pacific Theater and was directly involved in the “D” Day Invasion of Iwo Jima and the Okinawa Islands.
