Herman Dean Bickle, the son of George W. and Aletha Baker Bickle, was born January 24, 1933 in Palmira, Iowa. He was a graduate of Hartford High School in 1951 and Moved to Newton, Iowa in 1954. Herman was in the U.S. Air Force. He also had Attended Iowa City Commercial College and DMACC.
On June 18, 1961, Herman was untied in marriage to Leona L. Rinard in Colfax, Iowa. With their son, Rickie, he started bee keeping. It grew fro a 4-h project of 1 hive into a small hobby of 52 hives. Herman worked for the Maytag Company as a Steam Plant Operator, retiring in 1992. He was also a member of the UAW Local 997 and of the Iowa Honey Producers.
Herman was precededin death by his parents. Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Leona; his son and daughter-in-law, TSgt. Rickie D. and Anita R Bickle and Robert Bickle of Palmira, and his close friend (like daughter), Lisa Fox and her husband Kevin and their children, Cory and Emily, all of Newton; and his many nieces and nephews.
