Martin, Herbert “Herb” J. of Bay City, Michigan passed away Monday, June 4, 2012 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 83. He was born October 9, 1928 in Bay City and has resided here all of his life. He was a member of First United Methodist Church for over fifty years, retired from NEWCOR and served with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Herb was a real people person; he enjoyed his friends that walk the mall at the Bay City Mall and his friends at Wendy’s. He was a life member of member of the Elks Lodge B.P.O.E #88.
On September 6, 1958 he married the former Mary J. MacDonald and she survives his passing along with two sisters; Rita Spychalski of Scottsdale, AZ and Barbara Tafelkski of Tawas, MI., his sisters-in-law; Beverly Martin, Irene Martin, Rosalie Martin, and Tadzia MacDonald, one brother-in-law: Stanley MacDonald and several nieces and nephews who made Herb very happy and helped with his care during his illness. He was preceded in death by his parents; Franklin and Frieda (Dreyer) Martin, seven brothers; Atwood, Gerald, Gilbert, Richard, Selwyn, Walter and Cloris ‘Corky” and three sisters; Madaline, Iola and Rosella.
