Herbert M. Hanson, of Scottsdale, passed away March 16, 2009 at the age of 85. Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on April 12, 1923 to Herbert and Carmen Hanson, Herb was a graduate of New York University and served with General Patton, Second Armored Div. in North Africa and Europe campaigns receiving a Silver Star, Purple Heart and P.O.W. (Germany – 6 months) medals. His working career included international marketing management positions with Hobart MFG. & Ridge Tool Co. with assignments abroad and within the US. Herb was a 50 year member of the Masonic Order and Scottish York Rite Orders of El Zaribah Shrine in Phoenix. He also held memberships in both the American Legion and VFW. Herb’s beloved wife, Ruth of 59 ½ years, preceded him in death in 2006. He is survived by his daughter Sharman Soeder (Hanson) of Westlake, Ohio; grandson Richard, great grandson Dakota, both of Muskegon, MI and nephew Steve Williams of Anchorage, Alaska.
