Herbert Leo Bremer, 98, of Fairfield, MT, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday March 9, 2015.

Herbert was born Nov. 3, 1916. He was the son of Henry and Martha Bremer. Herbert grew up on the family farm northeast of Fairfield. Herb was adventurous and went from riding horses to being an avid Harley Davidson man. He also loved new cars and had many in his lifetime and blue was his color of choice. Herb’s quick wit, great sense of humor, black wavy hair, and blue eyes, won the heart of his “lovely lady”. Herbert married Phyllis Irene Johnke and raised their six children in the Fairfield area. After farming in the Sunny Slope area, they moved to the Greenfield Bench for 30 years. Driving bus for school “children” gave Herb great joy. He was also responsible for the mechanical maintenance of the buses. He traveled to Ohio and Indiana to bring back several new buses for the school. Herb was an active charter member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and held many church offices. He enjoyed hunting big and small game.

Herb was a very gifted farmer.

Whether repairing something or starting from scratch, Herb was a master at virtually everything he attempted. One of his favorite pastimes was woodworking. Herb and Phyllis retired from farming after 38 years and moved to Boise, ID. While there they enjoyed RVing, camping, boating, fishing and traveling abroad. They traveled overseas to England, Italy, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Herbert was preceded in death by both parents; his wife, Phyllis; son John Henry; brothers Fred, Art and Herman. He is survived by his children Lynn (Carl) Reek of Kirkland, WA; Harvey (Cheryl) Bremer of Fairfield, MT; Margie (Doug) Ekegren of Simms, MT; Arlene (Mike) Dellwo of Helena, MT; Rodney (Peggy) Bremer of Yamhill, OR.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Teton Nursing Home for their amazing care of our Dad.
