Henryk B. Gierlinski, 89, of New Britain, the loving husband of Jadwiga (Samojlik) Zywno Gierlinski, passed away on August 8, 2014 at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain. Born in Poland, he was the son of the late Stefan and Klara (Skalecka) Gierlinski. Henryk was a member of Sacred Heart Church. He was a machinist at Fafnir Bearing Co. in Newington where he retired after many years of employment. A proud veteran of the Polish Army, he belonged to the General Haller Post #111 and the Falcon’s Nest 88 in New Britain. Henryk loved the outdoors. Gardening, mushroom picking and swimming were some of his passions but his true love was fishing. He spent just about every day at Bigelow Hollow in Union. Henryk loved to travel and was an avid sports fan, especially soccer and the UConn women’s basketball team. In addition to his beloved wife Jadwiga, he leaves his step-children; Stasia Gajewski, Cecelia Birritteri and her husband Joseph, Krystyna Zywno and her fiancé Roger Recck, Barbara LaGasse and Chris Savulis and Robert Dombrowski; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his first wife Rose (Dombrowski) Gierlinski, and his three siblings in Poland.
