WINSTED – Henry J. Olszanski, 80, of Winsted, beloved husband of Bertha Olszanski, passed away Sunday, January 21st at home. He was born March 8, 1926 in Winsted, son of the late Samuel and Helen (Kravsky) Olszanski. He was a veteran of World War II having served on the USS Shangri-La in the U.S. Navy. He received the American Theater Medal, the Victory Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Theater Medal, two stars. He was the former owner and operator of MountainView Auto with Andrew DeSanti. He was employed at Sweeco Wire for 20 years and by The Metropolitan District as a Water Supply Monitor prior to his retirement. He also worked as a security guard. He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church and a former “Redman”. He enjoyed playing golf, collecting coins and is survived by his wife, Bertha (DeSanti) Olszanski, one daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Donald Grise of Windham, CT; one son, Gary Olszanski of Winsted; and one grandson, Derek Grise of Middletown, CT.
