Henry Joseph Brennan, age 95, of Macedonia, a former Salem resident, died at 8:05 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012 at the Summit Point assisted living facility in Macedonia. He was born October 6, 1917 in Dublin, Ireland, the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Dolan) Brennan. Henry played soccer for several professional teams in Ireland including Home Farm and Shamrock Rovers. From 1949 – 1958, he was a self-employed general contractor in Dublin. He came to the United States in 1958 and worked for the former A & P Warehouse in Buffalo, New York and Salem for 20 years. He retired in 1980. Henry was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church and the Mahoning Valley Gaelic Society in Youngstown. He was involved in starting the soccer league in Salem and was a soccer coach. His wife, Kate Ann “Kathleen” (Cornyn) Brennan, whom he married August 2,1949, preceded him in death on May 7, 2007. He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kathleen Brennan; two brothers, Patrick and Jimmy Brennan; and a sister, Annie Smith. Survivors include two sons, Patrick Brennan of North Benton and Noel (Becky) Brennan of Alliance; three daughters, Annie Campbell of Seattle, Washington, Pamela (Richard) Stevens of Aiken, South Carolina and Yvonne (Thomas) King of Chagrin Falls; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
