POSTHUMUS, Henry “Hank” Of Portage Henry Edwin Posthumus was born February 14, 1921, in Portage, Michigan, the son of Sam and Anna Schuring Posthumus and went home to be with his Lord on January 27, 2011, in Portage, Michigan.

He was a lifelong Portage resident who served his country in the U.S Army overseas during World War II, from 1942-45. For over 40 years he could be found working at Clark & Biek Men?s Wear, first as a salesman and eventually becoming owner. In later years he worked with VanderSalm?s Florist for several years, retiring in 1983. Hank was an active member of First Reformed Church of Portage for over 50 years, where he had served in many capacities including many times on the church consistory.

Family was a very important part of Hank?s life, especially being able to follow the many activities of his children and grandchildren. On February 4, 1949, he was united in marriage to the former Bettijean Koster, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Douglas Brenda Posthumus of Mishawaka, IN, Dale Kathy Brown Posthumus of Portage and William Delanne Posthumus of Portage; ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; a brother, George Joan Posthumus; sisters-in-law, Jean P. Posthumus, Ann Posthumus, Jean B. Posthumus and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Robert, Thomas and Claus Posthumus.
