Henry Dudley DeHart, almost 83, of 438 Rockwood Park Road, Bassett, VA died Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, NC. He was born on January 15, 1927 in Henry County, VA to the late John Clenard DeHart and Fannie Pearl Stone DeHart. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Moore DeHart; a son, Mark Daniel DeHart and a brother, John C. DeHart, Jr. Mr. DeHart was a member of Fort Trial Baptist Church and before retiring, he worked 38 years for E. I. DuPont, Inc. as a supervisor. He was a member of the Oak Level Ruritan Club and was a past member of the Collinsville Exchange Club and a past volunteer for the Collinsville Fire Department. Surviving are his daughter, Deana DeHart of Bassett, VA; a son, Michael D. DeHart of Roaring Gap, NC; a sister, Raynelle Peters of Henry, VA; a brother, Jimmy DeHart of Henry, VA; three grandchildren, Hannah DeHart, Maggie Renken and Henry W. DeHart and two great-grandchildren, Zuri Renken and Ella Dean Renken. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at Fort Trial Baptist Church with Dr. Joey McNeill officiating. Burial will be at the Hartland Cemetery, Bassett, VA. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., at the church. Memorials may be made to the Fort Trial Baptist Church, 170 Oak Level Road, Stanleytown, VA 24168.
